I’m a nice person + Kids like nice people = I’m good at photographing kids’ genuine smiles.
But it’s not that simple… Photographing kids (and animals, I’ve heard…) takes a different kind of skill… Patience. A different level of Patience. I’m a parent of 2 kids. I know how to handle situations… and I really enjoy it.
Hi there! I’m Megumi (Or Meg for short. And no, I’m not Americanizing my name. I grew up as Meg in Japan…Thx for your concern.😉), a commercial and lifestyle photographer based in Los Angeles, Calif. I moved to LA from Japan in 1998 to study photography and now live here with my loving husband and two amazing children. In my previous life, I worked as a photo researcher at an advertising agency.
I specialize in child portrait photography and lifestyle photography. I’m at my happiest when I’m chasing around kids with my camera. I developed a passion for capturing images of children when I became a mother. Running after the little ones made me want to document their every move!
My superpower is the ability to make kids feel comfortable, accepted, and valued in front of the camera. I create a safe space where they’re encouraged to laugh, giggle, and be authentic. Nothing is more rewarding than helping the shyest kids break out of their shells and watching them blossom into beautiful and confident selves. I truly love what I do.
My goal as a photographer is to spread happiness and positivity through my work. My images are fun, bright, uplifting, and a bit quirky, and represent a diverse group of children. I believe that representation matters and I want to make sure all kids, especially those whose images are often overlooked, feel seen. I want my work to create a positive impact in the world, however small it may be.
A little about me : I’m a bibliophile ( I read over 100 books last year ); I’m obsessed with cute stationaries ; I’m a camera “otaku” ( I can talk about cameras for hours ) ; and I hate grocery shopping.
Thank you for visiting my page and I look forward to meeting you! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
